It easily could have been built that way in the first place.
Very few local racers stuck with Campy for many years.
Better endorsement discounts, great function, and decent durability changed their minds.
Plus it actually shifted and stopped.
Heck, go to a local criterium or stage race. Most of the racers are using SRAM or Shimano.
If the bike came with a complete DA 7400 gruppo, I'd still buy her in a heartbeat if I were you.
Far more importantly, will this bike fit you properly?
...and come to think of it, the nice one I saw this morning sported 7400 series DA.
