With 3 young ones, I am finding that it's very difficult to find the time to ride these days especially on the weekends. Browsing through this site, I have been motivated to commute, and decided to commute at least once a week, 18 miles each way.
I have few bikes each for specific purposes, but none for a commuter use. So I decided to convert my clunker for commute use. It's a no name brand, Motiv RockPoint II which was bought at Costco over 20 years ago. It was the first bike that I purchased in the late 80s. Although a cheapo, it still has decent frame, cro-mo 4130. Since it was always garaged, the frame is in quite excellent condition though. For sentimental values, I haven't been able to part with it all these years.
I have been looking into fenders and panniers, but I was undecided until last Friday when I rode to work. I rode with my backpack which weighed over 20 lbs due to laptop. And I realized that I better get that weight off my shoulders asap...dang shoulders are still killing me.
Here's my clunker...I mean commuter. By the way, sorry for the bad phone pic.
