Unless you stick it on a horizontal post, your leg is going to be in the way. Some tail lights are also fairly directional, which makes them quite sensitive to the angle they are mounted at. The fact that the forks turn all the time will make it worse.

The fact that no one does it might be some indication as to how well it works!
