i can see having a townie/cheap lockup bike and a regular, but as long as i'm going to have a whole bike dedicated to being not nice, it will coast at the very least.
To both of those, I agree. I somewhat want a 3rd bike so I have something I can lock up. My moto has too much sentimental value to lose, the Masi was too much of a lump sum to lock up, though with Kryptonite's insurance of sorts as long as I lock it properly, I'll get all my money back...

Guy at work does CX and it just seems like something that would be glorious. His CX is ss, I'd even consider rolling fixed CX. After rolling fixed for months straight, once I flipped my hub to ss I almost died I wasn't used to not being able to slow myself and set my feet in the cages while still at the top my driveway... rolling down nearly out of control when you're not used to coasting is quite an interesting experience!
