Now that I think about it, one of my other Raleighs--a '65--also came with goofy Schwinn blue grips with sparkles in them. It must have been some concession that the teenaged owners of these rather staid black English bikes made to make them look a little hip. I keep thinking that I need to replace them but I never seem to get around to it.

they were New Old Stock Schwinn grips that were thrown in when I got my '70 Tourist...they actually were super comfy.
anyway...more to the point....WHO CARES lol. If there's one thing I get reminded of every time I lose someone important in my life like I did this year, it's that focusing on details like this absolutely, positively does not matter in the long run....
