Thanks for the last few posts - actual information. I especially appreciated the point about getting a test ride from the lbs. I did this and tested a Caad 9-5. They guy gave me the once over and pulled out the floor model, adjusted the seat and off I went. The lbs didn't know me from Jack so I did not expect him to spend 30 or 40 minutes fitting the bike to me for a test.
I've seen many post on BF that imply that during a test ride of a particular bike, something will "click" telling you that this is the perfect bike and you must get it. I really don't think I have enough experience with different bikes to get that level of feedback - to me they all seem so much better than what I have that I can't differentiate the subtle differences between them. I would probably end up getting the one I like the look of the most or the one that the sales guy is pushing (or offering the best discount).
Anyway I'm in no big rush to get anything and will to a little more research and probably buy in a couple of months. I appreciate the feedback on BD - it sounds like they deliver as advertised.
