Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Buy the CAAD, support Canada, not Taiwan.

Just want to add in my experience with BD. I just got the Le Champion Ti with full SRAM Rival. It's a wonderful bike. There is nowhere on the internet or LBS that comes close to what I got for the price I paid $1595. I was dead set on getting a Ti frame and I am really happy that I got this bike.

If you know your size and can do the mechanics yourself it is difficult to justify spending twice as much at a LBS.

If you're seriously looking for a bike to ride and not show off on, then in addition to the BD bikes take a look at NeuvationCycling.com. I'm in the same boat as you are and I've been researching the two for the past month and after sifting through the extremists on these forums I'm convinced that neither option will be catastrophic. While I can wrench a bike with no issues I've already worked it out with my LBS to maintain my bike once I get it. He's more than happy to do it since he knows that I will buy all my gear and upgrades through him.

My $0.2

Cheers!
