I think top tube length can make the real difference. The original poster did not indicate what kkind of riding and what he feels comfortable on now. If he wants the Rivendell bars at the seat height fit, then that will lead to a larger bike than a classic CONI book racing position. While this is posted in the C&V forum, I just have this feeling it in regard to a modern bike, which can make it more challenging as there are fewer sizes now often.
