Its best to buy a built wheel with coaster hub, try niagara cycle

Coaster brakes are great, if you don't mind that you can't backpedal. You can build a fun singlespeed with them and cruise around.

I use a Alex/HiStop coaster wheel on my motorised beach bike. Using a low gear (10-15mph pedal speed) gives more leverage for braking than a higher gear.

They are a compromise design, but good for "get on and ride" without fiddling. Also good for a rear brake on a rainy day beater bike.
