Well, it sounds like I jumped the gun on Bonk #1 last weekend - but I'm pretty sure I have a lock on crash #1...
Went out for a repeat of the same 47-mile loop I did last week, this time packing some nutrition to avoid hitting the wall. Coming down a nice incline at a good clip, I spotted the gravel in the left turn just a bit too late. Dumb - I had noticed it the previous week, but am not all that familiar with the roads yet. This time, the bike kept going straight, and my left side slammed into the macadam. The helmet I'd bought two days prior did a great job of protecting my head (I'll be taking advantage of Trek's crash warranty) - but my shoulder didn't fare so well. Didn't realize that it was hurt pretty badly until after I rode home 16 miles (didn't feel so good when I had to stand in climbs...). At that point, I just shut down, spent the afternoon in the ER, and came home with a sling, a Rx for percoset, and a diagnosis of third degree A-C separation. I guess it will be a while before I ride again...
