I've been cautioned in the past about mounting my phone to the bars; sounds like it has merit. This person told me, 'keep your phone on you in case you have a wreck and you're unable to get to your bike. You'll need a way to call for help'. Kind of makes sense to me since I ride by myself a lot. Other than alone, obviously this wouldn't matter. I'm thinking of getting a Garmin precisely for this purpose though.
