I disagree. Some people are better at some things than others.
For example, I'm a great editor and writing has always come naturally to me. It baffles me when people write poorly, and my first instinct is to say "spend more time on it and improve it!" I edit quite a few papers for my friends, and some of them just suck at expressing themselves in writing. They could spend all the time in the world on it, and it would still suck.
