Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's easy enough to say "oh bikes are simple anyone can figure it out" when it comes easily to you.
I think the main difference between the more mechanically inclined and the less is that when the "more inclined" broke a bunch of stuff, they kept trying to figure it out and didn't quit. The "more inclined" enjoy it and keep trying. Others get frustrated and lose all motivation. It looks like its easy when you see them working, but what you see is the result of a lot of screw-ups

I disagree. Some people are better at some things than others.

For example, I'm a great editor and writing has always come naturally to me. It baffles me when people write poorly, and my first instinct is to say "spend more time on it and improve it!" I edit quite a few papers for my friends, and some of them just suck at expressing themselves in writing. They could spend all the time in the world on it, and it would still suck.

bike is nicer than the table. Is that a Surly Pacer? Brown hoods are a nice touch.

Get a tripod.

Sure, talent is real, but most people are capable of a lot more than they think. People that cant write usually just need to read more (myself included). You might not ever be a pro, but most people can not suck if they give it enough time and effort.
