I wear hearing aids and most drivers pass so fast I only hear 1 or 2 words. I know when they are mad and just smile and wave. Those that go slow enough to hear "get on the sidewalk", I tell them it's against the law. I worry about those that come up behind and act like they would like to bump me. I do not give way though. The law says I have as much right to the road as they do.
Half my commute is 2 lanes each direction. I take the outside lane right down the center grease strip. If I give any more room they will try to get between me and the line. I have had an ambulance company pull up behind me in the outside lane twice and touch their siren. If they are on a run they should be in the passing lane with sirens blazing. I just kept going. Next one that does this I will stop in the middle of the road, take his number and report him to the police. Their base is on my route and I will go back to it and file a complaint. They do not get a third time.
