I have a similar Zefal pump with the same problem. I didn't try soaking the plunger in oil, but I did try regreasing it thoroughly, and it helped only slightly. I think the leather disintegrates over time. Mine had all these loose fibers shedding off of it.

Off topic, but does anyone know where one can purchase that style of 90-degree pump-end?
