Thank you, I hope I didn't come across as dissing you or your bike, that wasn't my intention, I was just curious.
I prefer stem mounted shifters, (specifically Shimano Fingertip shifters) convenient location, frees up bar space. I had to customize a vintage set to get them on my bike. You gotta love drill point screws and the Dremel tool.

The only down side is, if you go over the bars, stem mounted shifters aren't quite so conveniently located
