Thanks to the advice, guidance, expertise and motivation of the people who responded to my previous thread on my 55cm Tommaso, I've been able to make it fit quite nicely. It now sports a mild Laprade-style setback seatpost (fluted!), longer & taller Nitto stem (pretty sure I wound up using a 100), new Sakae bars, a D-A 7400 series crankset, and 2nd gen 105 brake levers mounted a little higher on the bars. Comes out just under 22 pounds with pedals, rides very nicely.
