Heartbroken no more!
Thanks to the advice, guidance, expertise and motivation of the people who responded to my previous thread on my 55cm Tommaso, I've been able to make it fit quite nicely. It now sports a mild Laprade-style setback seatpost (fluted!), longer & taller Nitto stem (pretty sure I wound up using a 100), new Sakae bars, a D-A 7400 series crankset, and 2nd gen 105 brake levers mounted a little higher on the bars. Comes out just under 22 pounds with pedals, rides very nicely.
Really appeciate the help and suggestions!

Wow, two days and not a single comment- I'm shocked.
Really grateful to the group, though
- you gave me some really good reading material, got me to take out my measuring tape again, and really made me rethink the whole bike-fitting process. Aside from the seatpost and stem, these bars have a better curve for me (I like the 38-39cm size and traditional drop curve), the slightly higher brake levers feel better while on the hoods, and the D-A non-Biopace crankset has arms a smidge longer.
I may still have to sell this at some point just to make room (the 56cm Dancelli and a cream colored SuperTempo MkII are in the pipeline), but it will get lots of miles put on it first.

looks good. Is the rear brake cable housing coming from the bars to the frame long enough that you don't get any interference or auto-braking?

Your bike turned out beautifully, rccardr!
I really like the more classic look of the !on-aero clamp stem!
Painted flutes and clamp on the seatpost also adds that extra classy touch.

That is really good looking. Ive been making bikes fit me more than fitting what they should look like. My centurion is now rocking a 70mm stem instead of the 90mm that came on it, and I'll ride it more because of that =)

No need to feel shocked or excluded. You did everything straight proper! Right down to the length housing of the rear derraileur cable! Most people get that wrong because 80% of bike manufactures leave that too short. Not too evident on 8sp systems but campy 10 and up sure is picky about that!!
I recently got one of my rides fitting just right after putting it aside for ~1yr. It sure is rewarding once it fits so well, it rides effortlessly!

looks great, and I love that seat post it is just amazing how a little paint can make something look great.
if I had a nice blue frame like that I would build it with Victory and try and pass it off as a mid '80s Campi neutral support bike

Wow.. I missed this thread. I usually keep an eye out for your threads(usually something very eye appealing in them). Glad you could make it fit. Usually the bike looks goofy when someone tries to adapt it to fit, but this looks pretty darn good.
As usual, very nice work.

The first time I saw the thread, I thought it was a romance thread, so I skipped it.
The next time I hit on it, the pictures didn't load, so I moved on. (old magazine habit?)
The next time, only the bar/stem photo came up, so I moved on again, because I couldn't see what they were talking about.
OK, now it's all here, and you did a great job. Well-balanced bike, and I like the saddle a lot.
Nice work on the seatpost. Very clean machine, looks fast just sitting still.
