I'm thinking hard about an Addit and their large or small Trunkit bag (for "riding around" things), along with some panniers for commuting.
The SnapIt attachment mechanism for the TrunkIts, while proprietary to RackTime equipment, is incredibly convenient for a commuter bag. Much better than the usual velcro and similar straps. (I have a TrunkIt Large.) There's an additional widget that will let you lock the bag to the rack as well. Lastly, if you can find it, you can buy just the attachment mechanism to use with standard bags or to build your own DIY container.
