The internal cable tube looks to be a metal tube, not a flexible cable housing. The metal tube should be at least as stiff as index cable housing (if not stiffer), I dont forsee that it will cause compression problems effecting index shifting performance. Just make sure the ID of the tube is clean and lubed for low-friction so the rear derailler can pull cable back when shifting to high gear.
