I say clean it up and build it up as is and then enjoy the heck out of it. It's got personality and if it got a chip here or there...no biggy

Be careful with the seat binder bolt. If you overtorque it, you bend the ears, and then you'll repeatedly snap bolts. That's why they don't make them that way any more.

You got me ... what are you referring to? I'm not sure I can make out anything other than smudges and reflections.

I'm pretty sure that the slight discoloration at the shoreline in that photo is a wee bit of stray silver (under the paint) that wasn't cleaned off the frame.

Here's some damage pics...I'm considering using a detail gun and respraying the top tube, head tube, and rear triangle (blending and preserving the TK signature though). A big question is the DT Spectrum 'S'...I could gently feather/fill/sand/spray...AND...attempt to hand paint the top lines back in.

Thoughts???

Toyota silver duplicolor may be right on with that, and painstaking with repeated touches and rubouts, but you keep that color, you can accent with red or yellow on saddles, wrap, housings, cage, and really set it off.

I think that bike, in about any color, will be supah, and glad it's where it will get ridden.

Now, if you can just shrink it to 56 and teleport it, Scotty.

Hey Robbie... I will most likely be using scanned/matched PPG DBC if I decide to spray it...worst case scenario, my car painter will try his best to match something up visually (in the can).

56 Spectrum...hmm...let me think on that.

Ugh. Those piss-poor paint touchups are a poster child for why I prefer to leave old nicks and scratches as they are.

Best of luck to you if you can airbrush them out with a perfect match - that would be beyond fantastic.

Hey Grady...I remember that indeed...That bike, the Ellis Rando, and the Shamrock all-rounder all struck a chord with me in Austin.

If I use fenders, I think either of those would look really nice...I also wonder how the grey (kinda century like) Civias I posted before would look???

I have some Noodles or a Deda 215 sitting here, along with the Centaur Century gruppo...and I built a pair of wheels this winter with Aeroheads laced to a Chorus rear and Daytona front hub...what else...black Mavic seatpost or fluted Gippiemme...black Concor supercorsa saddle (maybe a Swift Ti later)...maybe some 27mm Parigi-Roubaixs???

Did you get your frame painted???

The grey Civias would be a good choice as well.

I just picked up a set of Honjos off of CL. The owner got mad at them and sold them, as he couldn't figure out how to mount them properly.

I'll use them on a build this fall, and they (a new set) might look sweet with this frame of yours.

Your build details sound fantastic by the way.

Also, I agree on those bikes you mentioned. As nice as any that's for sure. That Chris Bishop, has a special spot though.

He is a super guy to chat with, and in a short amount of time came up with some great ideas for me.

Finally, if you are inquiring about my Walter Croll, yes I did have it etched and primed.

I am down to two color schemes, and I like both equally.

I'll take some pics when finished.

Fluted honjos would be rather beautiful on that.

To me this is like picking a dress for Elizabeth Hurley. Yes, some things might be better than others...but i's Elizabeth Hurley! It's going to look good no matter what you do.

Two other items:

1) If I intend on riding distances with any of my bikes, they get Nitto Noodles or Randonneur bars. Hand positions and the choice of changing them often will keep me going all day!

2) Challenge Parigi-Roubaixs are a tire I really like. I used a set last summer on my Bruce Gordon and I can only report a positive experience. I have a friend though, that had the same tires and had some flatting issues. I only wish I could get them in a little wider size range.
