Anything that does not seat the cups perfectly parallel to one another, asks for the heating of aluminum to expand, is not good ... unless you think this is appropriate tooling???? The other thread removed the picture of the tool that the person fabricated/used, so that thread was of no use.
There will be photos of the Mike's tool; soon enough. Please refer to the last few posts in his thread for the holdup.
For that matter, there are a few other tools out there designed to do the same job - though perhaps not as accurately. At any rate, it's doable - I've been riding on a 1960 Campagnolo hub that was repaired via the second of these two methods (Mike's method), to no ill effects.
