FWIW, I was supremely annoyed by that thread once I clicked and read it because I do think
commute when someone says
commute. I just didn't say anything because I feel like I'm too new here to call people out. Words have meanings and using the correct ones isn't just semantics.
I commute with all my work clothes, shoes, lunch, sometimes laptop, etc. in panniers on a rear rack on a geared CX bike. I call it my commuter/touring bike. Even though my route to work is through the city, I only call my SS a "city bike" which is I think is like what scrod calls a "daily ride."
Now the word "commute" looks weird, LOL.
