Over the years I have developed a confident and aggressive riding style, but I avoid self-righteous riding behaviors and minimize confrontations with motorists as much as possible, and when it is reasonably safe to do so, I obey traffic laws when other traffic is present. I don't recall having been honked at, yelled at, or swerved at in years. You basically get what you ask for. If you ride like you are minding your own business you may still see stupid, reckless driving behavior, but it is far less likely to be directed toward you.
