As far as 'how modern'...I would simply like a decent set up with brifters. Doesn't need to be brand new or dura ace either.

I am located in a little area outside of Orlando, FL, a somewhat podunk area where chickens roam downtown literally.

My current frame doesn't have the downtube shifter bosses so it may be more difficult to run modern deraillers. Is this actually possible?

Frame condition, at least paint, doesn't matter all too much. Painting the frame would probably be the least cost item in the build (I know a guy..)

I like the idea of the later-older Schwinns. Looks like I will begin searching.
