I bought a Clean Bottle on a trip when I rented a bike. It uses PBA free plastic, but whatever plastic they use has a terrible odor.

I used it the first time after just rinsing it out. IT mad the Gatorade undrinkable. I washed it out, and let it sit open with both ends off for a day, and it still had the odor. Gave it a good wasinging with soap and water, towel dired it, and rinsed it another 5-6 times. Still had a strong odor and taste in the water.

I didn't try getting it through TSA in a carry on and just left it behind.
