My chain was real noisy, I found that I've been riding with a loose large chainring for a while. Tightened it up, less noisy, but no matter how I adjust the derailleur, it shifts the chain up onto the tips of the teeth, to the outside, so it falls off. Rode this bike hundreds of miles before with no problems.
