those appear to be the same as the nashbar (rebranded, i'm sure) pedals i tried once. got rid of them during the same year for a pair of spd-sl 105 pedals. i got hot spots with them. not sure what the current prices are at all the british retailers, but i would do a little shopping around for something like the Look Keo Easy or the Shimano R540 pedals.

EDIT: Chain Reaction Cycles has the R540 for $36.51. If you're looking for pedals with compatible cleats, these obviously won't work, but if you have more than one pair of shoes, that deal is hard to beat.
