I carry my iphone in my rear left pocket in a ziplock bag. I have carried phones in my jersey pockets for years, never had a phone or anything else fall out of one.
I also put my phone and ID in a ziplock bag in my jersey pocket. The phone is heavy enough to held them all in there.
