Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: quite a few

I just put it in my jersey pocket. I do have a PI one with a zippered pocket but actually I don't really like that design.

Bikes: Paletti,Pinarello Monviso,Duell Vienna,Giordana XL Super,Lemond Maillot Juane.& custom,PDG Paramount,Fuji Opus III,Davidson Impulse,Pashley Guv'nor,Evans,Fishlips,Y-Foil,Softride, Tetra Pro, CAAD8 Optimo,

I tried something different this weekend on a long ride. I used a small bag like this to carry my cell phone and some power bars.

But I put in back against my seatpost instead of up by the handlebar.

Storage matters to me because I do a lot of self supported rides around 100 miles. Jersey pockets are full of water bottles, and a handheld GPS usually. Large saddle bag full of tubes, tools, lock, bananas, etc.

Still a Ziploc bag, I guess, but stashing it might be tougher.

I'm surprised I carry one at all, but I just can't train myself to remember to bring everything I need and having it on the bike at all times ensures I'll never be without a spare tube. Since I hate them so much, the smallest one I can get away with is the one I'll ride with.
This is one solution, I started using the Lezyne Caddy Sack, I put everything in there (tube, levers, multi-tool, CO2, patch kit, house key) and YES I also get my phone along with cash, ID, and credit card. The point is you can get rid of the seat bag and put this in your middle jersey pocket. THe main items are always in the sack all you need to remember is to pick it up and add phone, ID, Money and Key. Just saying...

OP hates "ugly" things on his pretty bike, so that rules out the fredly bento box.

That looks pretty nice. What advantage does it have over a plastic bag? Are there inner compartments to separate things?

Not really, it is just a cleaner more elegant solution IMO. Made of a rubberized material pretty sturdy, they call it "PVC fabrics", has water resistant zipper, and it is just the right size to fit in the jersey. Keeps everything clean and organized. Works well for me.

Used to use a Ziploc, but was looking for something to spend my REI dividend on a few years ago. $10. iPhone, DL, credit card, and cash.
