No, I haven't. It's just what I've read on the world wide interwebs. Yes, you're right, I could see this being a problem. I've checked on my bike, though, with a cheap Tektro rear caliper and I thought there was just enough thread poking through the crown... I just never got around to getting a longer recessed nut. So... I guess YMMV?

The stock rear brake sucks anyways.
