I had this same problem a while back, but it wasn't after hitting the pedal, they were just clicking at the same point in every stroke.

I took off the pedals, greased the threads, and put a couple drops of 3 in 1 around the edges of where the pedal axle connects to try to get some inside the pedal. Put them back on and the noise was gone.
