Pedal/Crank Issue: Pop/Clicking

Pedal/Crank Issue: Pop/Clicking

i barely scrapped my right pedal on a curb, now my pedal or crank is making a clicking/popping noise when force is pressed downward on the pedal... when i stand to charge, the problem is most predominant. has anybody had a similar issue? any takers?

take the pedal off grease the axle, Take the lock nut off, clean the bearings and relube and seat it correctly, Most likely you have a cheap pedal with loose ballbearings and you damaged the surface from the impact,

Chainring bolts?

Could be anything, really.

i recommend removing the problematic pedal, removing the spindle and inspecting the bearings to see if anything got dislodged from their cups

I had a similar thing a few weeks ago. I thought it was my pedal which is about dead anyways so I didn't worry about it. A few days later my crank came way loose; I rounded it in the before I could stop about half a block later. Replaced the arm to hear the sound still there...turns out it's the BB which is completely effed. I was planning to replace it anyways, but still...not a cheap thing to now need to replace before I was planning.

I had the same problem, there was a tiny bit of wabble in my crank arms is I'm guessing what it ended up being. I took off the left crank arm (had omniums) and reattached, making sure it was nice and tight. problem went away

I had this same problem a while back, but it wasn't after hitting the pedal, they were just clicking at the same point in every stroke.

I took off the pedals, greased the threads, and put a couple drops of 3 in 1 around the edges of where the pedal axle connects to try to get some inside the pedal. Put them back on and the noise was gone.

Try switching to another pedal. If the sound is still present, then it is not your pedals at least.
