Because............they are very uncomfortable on long rides...........and all our half bikes have Campy Record 10 speed which I am more comfortable with. Here is what I am thinking of doing: buy new 11 speed Record shifters for my best half bike and use a Jtek shiftmate to make it work with the 10 speed gearing there until I upgrade the rest of that drive train to 11 speed later. THEN, move the liberated 10 speed Record shifters to the Santana Team Al, add the appropriate Jtek shiftmate (Number 2 I believe) to make it shift the existing Shimano XT rear derailleur and 9 cog cluster.

The only hitch is that I am not sure if the left Record shifter, currently shifting a double chain ring on my half bike, will work on the triple front on the tandem or not. This Record group is from around 2004. Does anyone know if they were double/triple compatible back then? If not that plan will have to be scotched!
