Honestly when it comes to collecting you cannot always quantify what a "lot" of money is, when it's spent on a piece that does not come up for sale often enough to track prices, or is in the kind of condition you may never see again. Not everybody is a collector, I'm not, but I understand the passion and drive that serious ones have. And it's not always the well heeled. I've seen guys who live like paupers but will spend thousands on a 1920's blues 78. It's just priorities (their own).

I personally might not agree with what some collectors spend, but I respect their right to spend their money, and would never piss on their parade when they do.
Very well put to which I 100% agree.
