Front centerpull brake mount, alternative?

Putting together an old takara, it's going to be a TT bike. The bars I put on required a threadless stem adapter and new stem, which are going to be dropped as low as they can go. Problem here is there is no room for the brake housing to enter the centerpull mount. I was thinking of simply twisting the mount a bit so the housing could enter, but think this may create a problem with the cable wanting to pull off center on the saddle wire on the caliper. Haven't tried it yet, just guessing.

Would it be a rediculous thought to entertain drilling a hole in the stem for the cable? I do like my teeth, so I think there is probably a better way ~
Does anybody know a better solution to this other than raising the stem up till I get the required clearance?
