Took my Catrike Expedition on a 43.5 mile ride today. It was the longest ride I have ever done on a bike/trike. This past weekend my Uncle and I knocked out a 33 mile ride which was the longest ride I had done to date. I was stuck in town today with nothing really to do so I figured I would load up the trike with snacks and water and head out. I almost hit a raccoon crossing the road about mile 7, he was running across a bridge and the lack of cars I guess made him at ease and not aware of the fat guy on a red trike blazing at him, and no he didn't show signs of rabies. The rest of the ride was pretty slow going, averaged a little over 12mph. I am planning a 75 mile ride once it gets cooler and today was a good gain and land mark in my training. I think I could have gone further but I didn't want to over do it. I was tired at the end of the ride but not exhausted, I felt I could have gotten 50 miles in pretty easy. I drank 107oz of water, ate 2 Honey Stinger Energy Gels, and 2 Honey Stinger Waffles over the whole trip and had to stop to pee three times so I don't feel I was dehydrating myself, pretty clear urine. I however did run out of water about a mile from my house, no big deal really, I had passed up buying more water at a convenience store about mile 38. I do need to find a larger water carrying device to refill my 25oz water bottles from or plan on carrying money so that I can spot along the way to buy water. Here is my Garmin Connect link if anyone is interested.
