Off topic: With today's LED headlight technology, there is simply no defense for not having and using a headlight. In MA, the legal requirement is that it be a white beam, visible for 500 feet. I have a pricey one, but you can get one that easily meets that requirement at Walmart for ≈ $25.00.

Just came back from Phoenix and was impressed by how many citizens use LED head- and tail lights for transportation cycling.

I remember when Vistalite had the first sorta-whiite flashing "headlight".
Of course, I got one. Can't remember if it supplemented a Cateye HyperLite, which was my (halogen) light of choice for a few years, prior to LED.
