Bikes: See my sig...

It is nice to see that there is a new bike with a Schwinn badge that is not a total POS... as a company Schwinn ceased to exist when they were bought up in 2001 by Pacific cycles (the brand name was worth millions) and subsequently was bought up by Dorel.

In purchasing the rights to the name, Pacific and Dorel have been able to produce countless numbers of craptastic bicycles with a Schwinn badge which has done much to equate the name "Schwinn" with low end and cheap and that is hard to come back from.

The same happened with Raleigh in 2000 when they were bought by Derby Cycles but Raleigh has really done well to re-establish the name as a quality manufacturer and one of our local shops will be bringing in a full line in 2012... it has been a long time since any decent bike shop carried Raleighs here and it will take a while before people realize that these are quality bicycles.

Ignaz Schwinn must have rolled over in his grave when his company was sold off and the name he established was used to market cheaply made Chinese bicycles.
