Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Then again, the ones on the listed Schwinn are further up the food chain than those on my BD single speed), but, in compact crank form, I'd be surprised if these bikes didn't come off the same assembly line, or at least from another part of the same plant.

Dorel can't be selling bikes this similar, under two of its brands, by accident.

The geometries and tube shapes are different. I suspect the aluminum alloys and internal butting are different as well.

Fair point. I wonder if the CAAD is made of 7005 aluminum vs. 6061 aluminum in the Schwinn. But, given that I've now completely hijacked this (zombie) thread , maybe I need to post these thoughts in the "good name of Schwinn" thread.

I think I might be poking a stick at a hornets' nest but I will admit that I just purchased the Medium frame version of this bike from Bikesdirect. I'm a fan of the Schwinn brand - for better or worse. My main bike right now is a 1994 Schwinn Crosscut. I've also got a 1991 Crosscut and 1994 Crosstrail.

This bike harkens back to those bikes for me and since I've been look for a bike with drops - it looks perfect to me. It's a Schwinn - fully recognizing what that means right now - and quite frankly I don't care. I love the color scheme - from the frame to the bars and saddle. The brown saddle and bars with the red/gray frame look exquisite, IMO. It's got 105 components and it will also be the first double that I'll be riding. (Just so you know, I usually post in the Clyde's forum - so doubles are a more of a goal than a reality for me).

I love the way it looks. I think it respects the Schwinn name and legacy - and it's no coincidence that the name is Schwinn Le Tour Legacy.

Can't wait to start riding it next spring.

Nice looking bike but this is a year old thread started and perpetrated by a notorious troll, now banned. Why don't you delete your post and start a new thread?

Actually, it's a 2 year old thread. This is the second occurrence of it becoming a zombie thread!
