my trainer itself isn't very loud that I can tell, meaning the damping/resistance system. what I can hear a lot is tire on trainer noise. rollers are even louder.
this is a lot worse when you have some tread on the tire. trekking / touring tires are about the limit. I've done a few sessions on my MTB with full knobs and .. uh, yeah. don't do it.
