Bikes: Fuji Absolute 4.0

Having commuted 8000 miles since starting this commuting odyssey. I have had 2 major accidents and a few minor slips and club tombe episodes.

The major incidents required hospitalization.

First one I was blown off the bike by driver too close at speed. Nothing broken but was concussed. Over night stay for observation. no lasting issues there.

Second event was a 10 day all expense paid vacation at trauma unit. Well almost all expenses paid. broken ribs, collarbone, collapsed lung, concussion. That one happened back in Feb. 2011. I am still recuperating. riding but still have issues with my shoulder. It was hit hard. No memory of what caused problem. I think it is likely someone clipped me on exit from campus but no one stayed around and reported that.

I am back on bike doing my commute. Before accident was 5 day/week rider. Now am getting up to 3 days/week and working back to full week.

Moral of story. Pay attention. Dress and ride brightly. Never ever trust the other guy.
