General consensus is they're quite good. Serious riders are finding need a rebuild every couple years, which amounts to taking apart and putting it back together - not exactly difficult. Drum brake models take a few minutes to get used to since both braking and shifting is done by pedaling backwards. SA hubs in general are more reliable than Shimano's IGHs, and they keep parts in stock forever.

SRAM recently released its own 2-speed hub, but it uses an automatic shifting mechanism. It's too new to tell how well it works yet.
