I got a bike stolen last year and it definitely sucks . Also locked with a cable in a "safe" place. Make sure to report it to pawn shops and bikes shops and include the serial number if you have it. Also be sure to post a missing ad on craigslist. I didn't have my s/n but the police actually ended up catching a guy with my bike (a known bike thief), found my ad on craigslist and got the bike back to me. I know the chances are slim but keep your head up and be persistent. Lots of times if its an organized group they let the bikes "cool down" somewhere for upwards of 6 months or transport them out of state so be sure to check in the future and check other cities' craigslists.
