I'm still waiting on the carbon fiber frame with the "ride qualities" of my 1980s Ciocc's Columbus SL frame. I'm not implying that lightweight steel is "superior" to CF because "ride quality" is highly subjective. If you're a world-class competitive cyclist at your physical peak then you'll probably need to ride the lightest/stiffest/fastest unobtainium frame that your team/sponsor provides to you. The rest of us get to ride whatever we prefer and/or can afford be it steel, aluminum, titanium, CF, bamboo or something else.
My philosophy: "Ride what you like and like what you ride." I'd avoid chocolate frames though - they melt waaay too easily even if they're hand-made by Willy Wonka.
