I'm a big fan of the classic 32/32 wheelset with Open Pros, Aeroheads, etc. In fact, the wheelset I mainly ride is a Reflex Ceramic (just before Open Pro) with Mavic hubs. The front's been in service since the late 80s/early 90s and is still going round and round. The rear rim and spokes too, but the hub's been replaced with a cassette 571/2 instead of the 501 that was on there.

Other notables include a 600/Sun Mistral front wheel that's even older than the wheel above. Still goes round and round... The rear was taco-ed by my now ex- or I'd still be riding em as a pair.

If you stick to loose ball hubs, you can rebuild em about as many times as you need to to keep em running. Relube em in the spring, inspect the races and replace the bearings and ride em all year.
