Cyclocross bikes are great all rounders and by location would assume you already run fenders... know a few folks use use CX bikes for winter as they can handle studded tyres which are pretty much essential here.

If I lived in Portland year round I could get by with one bicycle and might just keep a spare front wheel with a studded tyre handy for those rare days the roads get icy.
