I have the Kryptonite New York standard lock. I put it through the seat stay and rear wheel -- pretty much where the rim brakes would go if I had them.

don't worry too much about their insurance. It's so hard to claim, that it may as well be worthless. That plus if you read the fine print, it says it will cover the deductible on whatever other insurance you have such as renters or homeowners, not necessarily the cost of teh bike itself.
