Shimergo variations?

I remember reading somewhere on here that you can run 10s Campy ergo with a 10s Shimano cassette using an older pre-?? Campy rear derailleur without using an alternate cable routing or a shiftmate. Can anyone verify this???

I'm currently using 10s Campy ergo with a 9s Shimano cassette and 9s Shimano derailleur and alternate cable routing. This can be seen here:http://www.ctc.org.uk/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=3946

I'm asking because I'm curious about mixing a Campagnolo long cage derailleur and possibly a Shimano MTB cassette. If I can use an early Campy derailleur to shift a 10s Shimano cassette, what years/models? Is a Campy racing triple compatible with this idea? thanks!!!
