Shimergo variations?

I remember reading somewhere on here that you can run 10s Campy ergo with a 10s Shimano cassette using an older pre-?? Campy rear derailleur without using an alternate cable routing or a shiftmate. Can anyone verify this???

I'm currently using 10s Campy ergo with a 9s Shimano cassette and 9s Shimano derailleur and alternate cable routing. This can be seen here:https://www.ctc.org.uk/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=3946

I'm asking because I'm curious about mixing a Campagnolo long cage derailleur and possibly a Shimano MTB cassette. If I can use an early Campy derailleur to shift a 10s Shimano cassette, what years/models? Is a Campy racing triple compatible with this idea? thanks!!!

Bikes: enough bikes to qualify for Hoarders......

You can shift Sram rear direct actuation derailleurs with 10 speed Campy brifters..

im debating this exact plan as well. in theory it should work.

i already own a set of 10spd campagnolo bar end shifters mounted to pauls thumbies and ive got an almost new 8spd racing triple derailleur set on my wifes road bike that may be replaced with a 10spd compact system.

this would leave me with the perfect parts to a 10spd campy mtb. my only concern is how big of a cassette the racing triple will handle. i havent looked it up.

shifters:
